The Kanyakumari–Mangaluru Parasuram Express is set to transition to modern Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches, replacing the older Integrated Coach Factory (ICF) rakes. The Mangaluru–Kanyakumari service will debut the stainless-steel LHB coaches on September 22, followed by the Kanyakumari–Mangaluru service the next day. This upgrade is expected to significantly enhance safety, speed, and overall ride quality for passengers.
Clarifying seating capacity concerns
Addressing concerns and online rumours regarding a reduction in seating capacity, Southern Railway officials clarified that the upgrade will actually result in more seats for passengers. Although there will be one fewer general coach in the new arrangement, the design of LHB second-class coaches accommodates more seats per carriage compared to the legacy ICF coaches. Consequently, the total number of available seats on the route will increase.

The upgraded train will operate with a 21-coach configuration. This includes two AC chair cars, nine general second-class sitting coaches, nine general second-class coaches, and one second-class carriage with a luggage brake van.
