Thiruvananthapuram: A library of audiobooks is getting ready for the use of school children who are visually challenged.
Under the project named "Sruthi Padam - Sahapadikkoru Kaithangu", the General Education Department is planning to convert 100 books into audio format.
Those books selected from among the reference books suggested for Class 1 to 10 will be converted into audio format.
Kerala Education Minister V Sivankutty inaugurated the project online. Mankada MLA Manjalamkuzhi Ali presided over the meeting.
The audio books are prepared under the aegis of the SCERT, Kerala, and it is done with the help of the NSS volunteers of the higher secondary section in Malappuram district.
Kerala School for the Blind situated at Vallikapatta designed the programme with the help of almost 80 gadgets.
The Minister also inaugurated "Sasthram Viralthumbil - Sasthra Lab" Project.
