New Delhi: Indian students who were pursuing their final year of medicine in Ukrainian medical colleges and universities are in a fix. They have not been able to acquire so far the course certificate and internship certificate from the institute where they had studied.
Even though the Ukrainian universities have promised to issue these certificates the authorities say that they cannot do anything presently as the country is in the midst of a war with Russia.
The Ukrainian universities have asked the students to return for the in–person classes that begin on 1 September. But, the government doesn’t assure the safety of those who decide to return. Meanwhile, the students are worried whether the government would be willing to help if the situation in Ukraine worsens.
As per the official data, around 20,000 Indian students have returned since the war began. The Union Ministry of Finance says that around 1,300 students have to repay loans worth Rs 133 crore. Besides, there are hundreds who availed loans from private financial institutions.
