New Delhi: The Supreme Court has made it clear that the committee appointed by the government has powers to scrutinize admissions and the fees in minority professional education institutions in order to ensure that they are following the guidelines for fixing the fees.

The court was deciding a case filed by Icon Educational Society against the stipulations in the Madhya Pradesh law for regulating the functioning of professional educational institutions. The Supreme Court had ruled in 2016 that the Madhya Pradesh law was in conformity with the Constitution.
