Nipah threat: Two-day holiday for all educational institutions in Kozhikode district

A holiday has been declared for all educational institutions in Kozhikode district on Thursday and Friday (September 14 & 15) in view of the recent Nipah virus alert in place.

District Collector A Geetha said in a press release on Wednesday evening that the holiday will apply to professional colleges as well.

"Anganwadis and Madrassas will also be closed on the two days," the release said.

Schools have been advised to organise online classes.

Regarding University exams
However, the university exams that were scheduled have not been postponed completely. The University of Calicut has announced examinations that were to be held in colleges inside containment zones have been postponed.

A Nipah virus threat has gripped Kozhikode yet again with five cases, including two fatalities reported in the district in the past few days.

Three cases, including a healthcare worker, are active in Kozhikode.
