A group of farmers in this village has turned the barren field into a high yielding sugarcane farm. Their toil has also restored the legacy of this village which was once famous for sugarcane farming.
Travelling on trucks and trolleys loaded with food, bedding and other supplies, the farmers began their march on Tuesday after talks with the Centre failed to yield a commitment on minimum prices for a range of crops.
The protesters, the majority of whom were farmers, carried a black banner which read “Kattu Neethi Kattil Mathi” (Laws of the jungle should stay in the jungle).
In Kerala, a demonstration will be staged in front of Raj Bhavan and major centres in each district on Friday at 10 am.
