Thiruvananthapuram: This is an appreciation for Malayalam cinema, ace Malayalam actor Mohanlal, who got a special jury mention at the National Film Awards for his performance in various films including Pulimurugan, has said.
"I really didn't expect to get any award. But really happy that our films are getting applauded on the national stage," Mohanlal told reporters on Friday.

Mohanlal got a special jury mention as the 64th National film awards were announced on Friday for his performance in Munthiri Vallikal Thalirkkumbol, Janatha Garage and Pulimurugan.
“This is in fact an appreciation for the Malayalam cinema," he added. The Malayalam actor also said he was extremely happy for Peter Hein, who won the award in the action direction category introduced this year, for Pulimurugan.
