It's more waiting for the latest Lijo Jose Pellissery brilliance. Ee.Ma.Yau, which was a stunner with its swift completion in 18 days and its unconventional first-look poster, will not be released this year. The decision on the film of many mysteries was taken after the preview and ahead of its imminent release.
Twists and mysteries were a feature of the movie's publicity and it has now extended to the release also. Many stories are doing the rounds as to why the release has been put off in the last minute, especially after theaters were all set.
Indications are that post-production digital intermediate or DI work on the film, done to enhance filmed scenes with computer support, are being done again. The work adds more clarity and brightness to scenes. It is pointed out that some night scenes in the movie got darker after a DI was done. Hence a need was felt for a repeat DI.
As usual, social media is also actively speculating the delay reasons. Some even go the extent of airing the theory that the producer and the director are on two counts.
However, director Lijo says: "We wanted to stick to the release date of Ee.Ma.Yau, but we got invites to some film festivals. It will be released in Kerala after that."
The preview evoked an excellent response. A larger number of screens outside Kerala are also booked for the release.
Chemban Vinod, Vinayakan and Dilish Pothen play the main characters in the movie produced by Rajesh George Kulangara.
