In a WhatsApp circular, the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) has made it clear that it will be holding talks only with those members of the association who had submitted a letter seeking to discuss contentious issues in the association.

AMMA will therefore, be holding talks with actors Revathy, Parvathy, Padmapriya, Joy Mathew and Shammi Thilakan on August 7 at the executive committee meeting of the association.

The circular has also asked all AMMA members to refrain from making public statements in connection with the controversy that erupted following a decision to re-induct actor Dileep into it.

Actor Dileep is accused of masterminding an abduction and sexual attack on an actress who was also part of the organisation.

Interestingly, the three-page circular has not mentioned the term Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) anywhere in the text and maintained that the meeting would be discussing the internal issues in the organization.

Actors Revathi, Padmapriya and Parvathy, who had protested AMMA's move to re-induct Dileep, had earlier written to it to convene an executive meet and reconsider the decision.

They had written the letter expressing their protest about the re-induction as the matter was reportedly not listed on the agenda of the general body meeting. The three actors had not participated in the meeting that passed the decision by a majority.

Actors Rima Kallingal, Remya Nambeesan and Geethu Mohandas had resigned from the organisation protesting the move. The actress who was attacked in the February 17, 2017 incident had also quit the organisation the very next day after the decision was announced.
