Even as more skeletons are tumbling out of the closet with several women from different walks of life opening up about the sexual harassments they faced at workplaces through #MeToo campaign that rocked the film industry, politics and media, the latest to stand for the victims of sexual assault is none other than Tollywood’s reigning heroine Samantha Akkineni.

In her tweet, Samantha exhorted all women to speak up against sexual harassment they had undergone at workplace and urged them to lodge complaints with Telugu Film Chamber even if they want to remain anonymous.

Samantha has earlier too tweeted many times supporting the MeToo campaign and expressed her deep concern for the female workforce in the country. She has announced her solidarity with the victims and retweeted their posts.

Many prominent personalities from various sections of society have been on dock with the campaign gaining momentum in India. It all began when Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta kicked off the #MeToo campaign narrating the worst experiences she had with noted Bollywood actor Nana Patekar during the shooting of a film some 10 years ago.

Bollywood celebrities Priyanka Chopra, Parineeti Chopra, Kon Kona Sen Sharma, Richa Chadha, Twinkle Khanna and several others announced their support to Tanushree earlier.

It may be mentioned here that Samantha was one of the first south Indian celebrities to stand up for singer Chinmayi when she accused a lyricist of sexual harassment. Samantha also silenced those who trolled her post by giving apt replies on Twitter.
