Salted/canned fish

Preferably, tuna for its high nutrient content. But do not consume canned items that have stayed unrefrigerated for 48 hours or more.

Nuts

Any variety of nut that is easy to use will be helpful. Nuts are excellent storehouse of energy and have long shelf-life.

Protein bars

Even if you can get your hands on the nutty chocolate wafers in the nearest store, they can go a long way in keeping you full.

Cereal

Cornflakes, muselli, and other cereals are a good source of nutrients and are not so perishable.

Chilli

This may not be a ready-to-consume food item but if you are in a position to prepare your meals, use chillies generously as they help keep your immunity and gut strong.

Milk

Consuming pasteurised milk directly from tetra-packs will remove any fear of contamination and will make a healthy one-time meal.

Freeze food

If possible freeze items like milk, protein bars, flour laddus for prolonged usage. You can even freeze potable water to keep it from getting contaminated.

Food items to stay away from

Fresh produce, meat, poultry, fish, and eggs.

Avoid eating anything raw.
