People, who frequently cook at home, would have devised their own short cuts and methods to jack up the taste quotient.
Some tips that can do wonders to your cooking.
1. If you add fresh black pepper while frying fish, it would smell and taste better.
2. Egg should not be cooked in big flames. If overcooked, the egg loses its taste.
3. While sautéing onions for meat dishes, add a pinch of sugar. It would cook faster and the taste would also be good.
4. While sautéing onions for cutlets, squeeze in some lemon juice. This is especially good for chicken cutlet.
5. Grind ripe jackfruit in a mixer and then cook with jaggery in a pan. Once the mixture cools down, you can store it in fridge for up to one year. This can be used for making Kumbilappam by mixing it with rice flour, cardamom, cumin, coconut, jaggery and salt.
6. Prior to pouring hot liquid into the flask, drop one teaspoon also into it. This would prevent the refill from breaking.
8. Use lemon while washing plastic bottles or utensils to get rid of the 'plastic smell'.
