Colocasia/taro has high fibre content which is easy on the stomach and aids digestion. A store house of omega 3 fatty acids, sardines are the most common fish consumed by Keralites. Here is a simple and tasty recipe of colocasia and sardines prepared with loads of spices.

Ingredients
1 kg sardines
3 pieces Malabar tamarind ( kudam puli)
½ kg small colocasia/taro
1 tbsp chilli powder
½ tsp turmeric powder
Salt as required
10 shallots
2 bunches curry leaves
Ginger (chopped)
3 green chillies (chopped)
3 garlic cloves (chopped)
Coconut oil as required

Preparation
Clean the sardine and cut into pieces
Soak the Malabar tamarind in 2 cups of water
Clean the colocasia and cut into pieces
Marinate the colocasia pieces with chilli powder, turmeric powder, crushed shallots, curry leaves, ginger, garlic, green chillies, coconut oil and salt as required
Set it aside 
Add the Malabar tamarind along with water into the marinated colocasia pieces and cook
When the colocasia pieces are half cooked, add the cleaned sardines
Cook well
