Red velvet cupcake

Red velvet is one of the most loved varieties of cakes, with millions of pieces sold in the bakeries and patisserie around the globe. It is the striking red colour and the soft velvety texture that makes the red velvet cake an absolute winner.

Try out this recipe of red velvet cup cakes at home that could easily adorn the table for this year's Christmas feast.

Ingredients
1 ½ cups oil
1 egg
1 cup buttermilk (1/2 cup sour cream + ½ cup milk)
1 tsp lemon juice
2-4 tbsp red food colour (4 tsp would give the cake a deep red color while 2 tbsp would give it a  pink hue)
1 tsp vanilla essence
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ cups sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp coco powder

Preparation
Into a huge bowl, add oil, egg, buttermilk, lemon juice, red food colour, and vanilla essence
Beat them well
Add the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking soda, and coco powder individually
Beat all the ingredients well together
Pour this batter into cup cake moulds
Bake in a cup cake maker or in an oven at 177-190 °C.

Notes
You could add beetroot juice instead of red food colour.
