Kochi: Azzaya Tsugt-Ochir from Mongolia won the Miss Asia 2018 in the beauty pageant held here on Saturday. Assem Yessengeldiyeva from Kazakhstan won the Miss Asia Global title. Simran Malhotra who represented India at the pageant could not reach the final round.
The Miss Asia title is awarded to the most intelligent beauty from Asia. As many as 25 intelligent models from Asia and Eurasia took part in the competition. The Miss Asia Global title is awarded to the winner from Eurasia.
Apart from India, Indonesia, Bashkortostan, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Russia, China, Japan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Iran, Myanmar, Philippines and South Korea were represented at the event held at the Gokulam Convention Centre.
The models vied with each other in three rounds - national costume, black theme and white gown. All the models appeared in their first round in costumes which reflected the culture of their respective nations. The judges' panel comprised prominent models and former winners of the pageant.
