Moderate budget, perfect plan: This Anagamaly house is exemplary
The boxed elevation is a stand out feature of the exteriors.

Angamaly native Benny approached architect Anoop of the Cad Architects to design a brand new house with all the modern facilities, close to his old house. The architect drew the plan which perfectly suited the demands and preferences of the family. They were so impressed by the plan that hardly any changes were made in it.

The 1700 sq ft house was built close to their old house which had limited facilities. A well in the plot has been retained. The boxed elevation is a stand out feature of the exteriors. The louvers and stone claddings add a designer element to the elevation. The stylish compound wall enhances the charming look of the exteriors. The house, designed in contemporary style, sports pristine white hue which perfectly complements the pleasant greenery around.

Simplicity

The interiors are not over-crowded with decor and reflect the elegance of minimal style. This ensures a clean and classy feel in the interiors. The living area designed in ‘C’ shape is quaint and comfortable. A showcase adorns one side of the wall here. There are large windows, on the opposite wall, which welcomes lots of natural light and fresh air into the interiors. An opening decorated with wooden paneling separates the living and dining spaces. This feature ensures enough privacy for the guests and the family members as well. The stairway begins from the dining space and the wash area is arranged beneath the stair.

Budget

Architect Anoop says that the construction of the house was completed within the budget allotted by the client. He adds that the red brick stones available from near the plot, and M-sand were used to fill in the floor, which helped keep the expenses at bay. Elegant wood works adorn the interiors. The entrance door is made with teak wood while the other doors are done in wild jack tree (anjili) wood. Granite is paved on the floor in the main areas and reasonably priced vitrified tiles are used in the rest of the house.

Elaborate wood works are used in the interiors as designer elements. Anoop says that the expenses would have further gone down had these been avoided. The cupboards in the kitchen are made with plywood in veneer finish. Ferro cement slabs are used as the partitions inside the cupboards. There are four bedrooms in this house.

The unique color combinations add a special charm to the well-furnished bedrooms.

The in–built units help make the rooms look vast and spacious. One of the most noted features of this house is its excellent ventilation. Brick works were limited to add on more windows and this fills the interiors with pleasant sunshine and fresh air.

The heavy showers, due to extreme changes in the weather, may cause the shade of color on the exteriors walls to alter. It is a bit difficult to maintain the sheen of the expensive emulsion paint that adorns the exteriors.
