Sharath and Priyadarshini, both doctors, recently moved into their brand-new house at Mamangalam in Ernakulam, Kerala. The elevation dons the classy traditional architectural style while the interiors boast all the modern amenities. The multi-layered and sloped roof is paved with clay roofing tiles. Interestingly, the truss roof has been installed over the flat ceiling. Meanwhile, the attic space between the truss roof and the flat ceiling ensures that the interiors are cool. Moreover, this space can be used as a utility area.

The interiors of the house look so spacious that it hardly feels like the house stands on a 6 cents plot. The beautifully furnished interiors stand out for interesting designer elements and facilities.

The house, designed in 2800 sqft, has a car porch, sit-out, formal and family living areas, dining space, kitchen with a work area and a bedroom on the ground floor. Meanwhile, there are three bedrooms, bathrooms and a balcony on the upper floor.

The furniture pieces are custom-made to match the general theme of the house. The unique flooring ideas make the interiors elegant. Tiles in rustic finish have been paved on the floor in the common areas. Meanwhile, exquisite Moroccan designer tiles are used in the corridors that connect the spaces in the house.

In the family living area, a wall has been highlighted with wooden panelling. A TV unit is installed on this wall. Full-length windows line the wall beside this.

The kitchen is compact and has all the modern facilities. Meanwhile, the cabinets are done in plywood with laminate finish. Nano white has been paved on the countertop. An adjacent work area completes the kitchen.

The bedrooms are designed in unique themes. Wooden flooring is the highlight of the three bedrooms on the upper floor. The head-side walls are highlighted with attractive designer elements. A sliding glass door in one of the bedrooms upstairs opens to the balcony. A terracotta jali wall too has been installed here for safety.

The on-grid solar plant on the terrace meets the energy requirement of the house, making it an extremely sustainable abode.
