Jose’s vacation home stands in a 23 cents plot in the beautiful coastal hamlet of Vizhinjam exuding its amazing tropical features. The structural pattern on the elevation instantly catches the attention. These patterns are called wedges in architectural terminology.
Jose says that he had approved this design not just to make his dream abode look interesting but also to suit the weather of the area. The family too wanted to have a natural ambience inside the house that fills the heart with joy.
Designed in 5300 sqft, the holiday mansion has a sit-out, formal and family living areas, dining space, courtyard, kitchen with an adjacent work area and two bedrooms on the ground floor. Meanwhile, the upper floor has four bedrooms and a spacious living area too.
The spaces have been arranged to welcome the cool breeze that flows from the southwest and northeast directions.
The inner courtyard, which receives the golden sun rays and the beautiful rain showers is the soul of this house. The other spaces have been arranged around this central courtyard. A glass door is what separates the courtyard and the rest of the house. The spaces would be filled with cool breeze and natural sunshine if this door is opened.
A wall in the dining area is highlighted by growing creepers. This green wall adds a splendid charm to the area. Meanwhile, the staircase begins from the courtyard.
The upper living area is the family’s favorite spot where they often host small parties and gatherings. There is an open balcony adjacent to this area.
Interestingly, the kitchen has lots of overhead cabinets and storage spaces below the counter. A wall here is highlighted with tile cladding.
The bedrooms are designed with unique themes. The bath-attached bedrooms have wardrobes for storage.
As the house is quite close to the international airport, the glass works are done using vibration-resistant glass panels. This house is the perfect example of a spectacular abode that gels well with the surrounding environment.
