As per reports, the pontiff expressed that he may not survive pneumonia.

A few days after doctors said that the 88-year-old Pope Francis is suffering from a 'polymicrobial infection,' it's now revealed that he has been diagnosed with double pneumonia. A severe condition that majorly affects the lungs, it's caused by viral, fungal or bacterial infection and makes it tough to breathe, according to the Cleveland Clinic. It also results in a severe cough with green, yellow or bloody mucus and triggers inflammation, fever, fatigue, coughing and shortness of breath. The Pope, who has a history of lung diseases even from a younger age, also suffers from asthmatic bronchitis. A part of his lung was also removed many years ago due to pleurisy (inflammation of the membrane surrounding the lungs). The illness had led to his hospitalisation in Rome on February 14 this year.
While his medical condition is challenging, as per the latest reports, his health is stable, he has no fever, and he is managing without supplemental oxygen.

'I may not survive'
As per reports, the pontiff expressed that he may not survive pneumonia and, therefore, his funeral is allegedly rehearsed by the Vatican. Apparently, Rome-based infectious disease and geriatric wellness expert Dr Carmelo D'Asero also said that though the Pope doesn't have a fever, it can't be taken as a positive sign. A fever shows that a person's immune system responds to pathogens. However, a low fever while having serious bronchial infections shows a decreased response of the immune system, which is apparently worrying, says the doctor.
