Thodupuzha: The depot is all set to honour the first ever female inspector of the Kerala Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC). KR Rohini (49) who was the station master here has been promoted to the prestigious post of inspector. She will take charge as inspector at the Punalur depot on Monday. Rohini, meanwhile, is thrilled to take up this new responsibility. In her career spanning more than two and half decades, Rohini had been working as a conductor for around twenty years.

Rohini got appointed as a conductor at a time when women didn’t prefer this job. It was in 1997 that Rohini, a native of Puthupally, cleared the Public Service Commission exam and got appointed as a conductor. Twenty years later, in 2017, she took charge as the station master of the Piravom depot. She had, meanwhile, temporarily performed the duties of the inspector at many depots.

Rohini is proud that she had performed all the duties that were entrusted to her with sincerity. She recalls that she didn’t have any bitter or unsavoury experiences during her stint as a conductor or while performing other duties. She is the daughter of Chinnamma and Raman who is no more. She is married to KR Suresh, a native of Vazhithala. Karthika and Krishna, both school students, are their children.
