BDJS chief Tushar to take on Prathapan, Rajaji in Thrissur

Thushar Vellappally will lock horns with CPI's Rajaji Mathew Thomas and T N Prathapan of the Congress in Thrissur.

Cherthala: The Bharath Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS), an ally of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), will field party chief Thushar Vellappally from Thrissur in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Thushar will lock horns with CPI's Rajaji Mathew Thomas and T N Prathapan of the Congress in Thrissur.

It was also decided that Paily Vathikkadu will contest from Wayanad constituency.

Of the five seats allotted to it, BDJS had announced candidates for three seats earlier. The party is fielding Biju Krishnan in Idukki, Thazhava Sahadevan in Mavelikkara, and T V Babu in Alathur .

Thushar had earlier said that his party was willing to give the Wayanad seat to the BJP if Congress president Rahul Gandhi decided to contest from there.

The BJP will contest in 14 of the 20 Lok sabha seats in the state. The BDJS will contest in five seats while the P C Thomas-led Kerala Congress is in the fray in Kottayam.

The multi-phase Lok Sabha election is set to commence on April 11, with Kerala going to polls on April 23 (Tuesday).
