Thiruvananthapuram: Anil Antony, son of former Defence Minister A K Antony, on Tuesday said he will be managing the Wayanad-specific Twitter account of Congress President Rahul Gandhi.

"Rahul Gandhi's office has started a new Twitter account - RG-Wayanad. His office has given me the task of managing it till May 23," said Anil, an IT professional.

The account has been verified as authentic by Twitter five days after it came into existence.

The Congress president's activities in Wayanad will be shared through this handle. The Twitter handle, according to Anil, would cater to the needs of the Kerala media and announce programmes.

It would include the Malayalam translation of @RahulGandhi tweets, statements and messages pertaining to Wayanad in Kerala.

Gandhi is contesting the Lok Sabha election from both Wayanad in Kerala and Amethi in Uttar Pradesh.

Rahul, who arrived in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday evening, addressed a public rally at Pathanapuram and Pathanamthitta on Tuesday. He also had functions both in Alappuzha and Thiruvananthapuram constituencies Tuesday. He will be campaiging in the northern districts Wednesday, including Wayanad.

Reportedly, the Congress leaders told the party president the United Democratic Front (UDF) will win at least 17 Lok Sabha seats out of the 20 from the state. Opinion polls to predict a similar outcome.
