Riyad Mathew elected to International Press Institute

Hamburg (Germany):The senior assistant editor and director of Malayala Manorama, Riyad Mathew, has been elected executive board member of International Press Institute (IPI).

John Yearwood from the United States is the chairman and Ken Choyi from South Korea is the vice-chairman.

Riyad, who is presently the chairman of the Press Trust of India (PTI), completed post-graduation in journalism from the University of Maryland in the United States. He had served as the Washington correspondent of The Associated Press (AP). Riyad had also worked with Washington Times and Capital News Service too. He was also the Administrative Committee member of the Media Research Users Council. He is the son of Malayala Manorama editor Philip Mathew.

IPI, an international body of editors and senior journalists, is dedicated to ensuring press freedom and also pursuing eminence in journalism.
