Keralite girl rescued from Middle East sex racket, returns home

Keralite girl rescued from Middle East explaining her ordeal

Dubai: A Keralite girl, who had landed in a flesh-trading ring in Al Ain, managed to give her captors a slip and boarded a flight home – thanks to some quick thinking and timely help from social activists.

The girl arrived in Sharjah after she was promised a job as a receptionist at a hospital. Anas, a recruiting agent from Kozhikode, had promised her a job with a salary of Rs 35,000 in Sharjah.

On arrival, she was received by a woman from the racket. The victim realized that she had been cheated when she was taken to their secret abode. When she refused to oblige to their demands, the girl was threatened and locked up in a room. They also took away her mobile phone.

The girl also complained that she was denied food for a week. When she pleaded to be let off, the racketeers demanded Rs 2 lakh to send her back home. The girl then tactfully made them return her mobile phone and informed people back home about her predicament.

Subsequently, some Keralites in Dubai visited the place, posing themselves as customers, and rescued her. After that, social activist Laila Aboobacker helped her get her passport back.

The girl is planning to lodge a complaint with the police against the racket involving Keralites. She said that there were more girls in the custody of the racket lodged at the same place where she was detained.
