Sex rackets in Kerala are moving online and classifieds websites such as Locanto.com are a favorite market place for shady deals. While most other websites regulate the contents of classifieds, Locanto is free for all.
Many students and young professionals are among the users of Locanto. The popular website had been accused of facilitating flesh trade in the past but the authorities are yet to rein in the undesirable tendencies. To make matters worse, many smaller sites are operating from Kerala.
Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode have many rackets who do business exclusively through these sites. A large chunk of users of these sites are expatriate Malayalis. Many of the calls to the numbers listed on the site come from Gulf countries.
