Sex racket busted in Kochi, 19 people in police net

Kochi: A major sex racket operating from a lodge at Pullepady has been busted by the Central police. In total, 19 persons have been arrested, including several women and transgenders.

The latest to land in the police net are two women belonging to Delhi - Jisha alias Nirosha (30) of Jhilmil Colony, Krishna Market and Sonia (37) of Vikas Nagar, D K Mohan Garden. They were arrested by a team led by circle inspector A Ananthalal.

The police had earlier surrounded the lodge and nabbed 15 persons, including Joshy, who was in charge of the building. Five women and four transgenders were among them. A few days later, two others were picked up. Among those arrested was one Nurullah, belonging to Delhi. The police arrested the two Delhi women based on the statement obtained from him and on verifying mobile call records.

Meanwhile, a protest march was taken out by transgender activists, alleging that the transgenders arrested in connection with the case were framed by the police.
