Thrissur: The police inquiry has found that the migrant labour Mansoor Malik, who was working as a goldsmith at Perinchery in Cherpu in Thrissur district, was killed by his wife Reshma Beevi's paramour.
According to the police, Dheeru, lover of Reshma, 33, gave liquor to her husband Malik and made him unconscious. Later, he hit Malik on his head with an iron rod and killed him. He dug a pit in the backyard of the house and buried Malik.
Reshma witnessed the crime and gave all support to Dheeru.
Earlier, Reshma had confessed to the police that her husband died after she slapped him during a domestic quarrel and it was not deliberate. She said that after the death, she called Dheeru, who stayed on the ground floor of the house where the couple is staying, and buried the husband's body with help of him.
But the further probe by the police revealed that Dheeru, 33, committed the murder with the help of Reshma in a well-laid out conspiracy. Reshma and Dheeru decided to finish off Mansoor and live together after they became close to each other. They wanted to live together and this motive led to the crime.
What led to the police suspicion was that Reshma during questioning changed her statement many times. The person who helped in burying the body of Mansooor was taken into custody. In the further questioning of all suspects by the police, the truth came out.
Mansoor, son of Jayanal Malik, hailed from Faridpur in West Bengal.
Reshma and Dheeru are now in police custody.
