Kerala slashes rates of Covid tests, RT-PCR capped at Rs 300

The Kerala government on Wednesday revised the rates of Covid tests, personal protection equipment (PPE) kits and N-95 masks.

 

As per the new rates, RT-PCR test costs only Rs 300 while the rate of an antigen test is capped at Rs 100. The revised rate of Expert NAT test is Rs 2,350 and TrueNat is Rs 1,225. RT-LAMP test costs Rs 1,025, Kerala Health Minister Veena George said in a statement.

 

The minimum retail price for an N-95 mask is Rs 5.50 and maximum retail price is Rs 15.

 

The revised rate of PPE kits are as follows: PPE kit XL size – minimum price Rs 154

PPE kit XXL size – minimum price Rs 156 and maximum Rs 175

 

Strict action will be taken against those who overcharge, the minister said.

 

Earlier, the rates of Covid tests were capped as Rs 500 for RT-PCR, Rs 300 for antigen test, Rs 2,500 for EXPERT-NAT, Rs 1,500 for TrueNat and Rs 1,150 for RT-LAMP.
