Hello
Singapore has seen an increase in the number of coronavirus cases, mostly imported or those arriving from other countries.
Out of the 447 adverse events following immunisation, only three required hospitalisation.
So far, the government has procured 1.1 crore 'Covishield' and 55 lakh 'Covaxin' vaccines at a cost of Rs 200 and Rs 206 per dose, respectively.
Health Minister Shailaja said that no side effects had been reported in any of the 8,062 health workers who were vaccinated on January 16, the first day of the vaccination programme.
With this, the number of active cases in the state reached 68,991.
Co-Win, developed by the government, is supposed to help by alerting healthcare workers who are first in line to get shots, and by allowing officials monitor and manage the entire drive.
There are 2,08,826 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country which comprises 1.98 per cent of the total caseload.
The government recently restored all Saturdays as working days for government offices except those days which have otherwise been declared as holidays.
Ernakulam district has 12 vaccination centres, while Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode districts have 12 and 11 centres respectively. The rest 11 districts in the state have nine centres each.
Vaccination rooms were decorated with flowers and balloons, the first beneficiaries were welcomed with 'aarti', garlands and sweets, and people posed with victory signs after receiving the shots as a sense of hope prevailed over the months of anxiety and uncertainty as well as any apprehensions about the vaccines.
