Is your train delayed? Try these fun activities at the station to beat boredom

Mail This Article
Due to rain-related disruptions, many trains are getting delayed across Kerala and elsewhere. Passengers of these trains have no option but to wait at the station until the train arrives. They curse the train as swarms of mosquitoes attack them at the platform or the waiting room. However, you can beat boredom by smartly utilising waiting time. Try these fun activities at the station to refresh your mind and stay positive.
Station wifi
Most railway stations provide free internet connectivity. So, the first step is to link your mobile phone to the platform's Wi-Fi. But be careful to choose the real railway Wi-Fi, as there will be fake ones, too. You need to provide your mobile number to receive an OTP to connect to the network. After you are connected to the rail Wi-Fi, you can watch your favourite movies on any OTT platform.
Reading
Watching movies may not be everyone’s favourite pastime. So, do not forget to take a few books while packing. You could also buy newspapers and magazines from the station. If you enjoy writing, this is the perfect time to jot down your thoughts in your diary or journal.
Phone a friend
Due to busy schedules, most people cannot catch up with their friends or relatives. So, pick up your phone and dial a friend’s number as you wait at the platform. This is the perfect opportunity to chat with your friends and relatives on the phone.
Enjoy a stroll
Deposit your luggage in the cloak room and take a small stroll around the station to kill time. You could visit a nearby local market and do some quick shopping. Meanwhile, some railway stations have kiosks that sell interesting items that might catch your attention. Do not forget to enjoy a refreshing cup of coffee if a coffee shop is nearby. However, getting out of the station is unsafe if the weather is bad.
Plan a trip
Try to be creative and plan your next trip while waiting for your train. You could utilise the waiting time to browse for tickets, hotels for accommodation or even find new places online. If you do not wish to do anything else but to relax or sleep, then head straight to the air-conditioned waiting rooms at the platform. You could wait here, away from the bustle of the platform, until your train arrives.
