As heavy rains continue to lash Kerala, various trains are also running late today. Almost all trains are at least one hour late, as per the latest update. In Kozhikode, train services were halted again on Tuesday morning after another tree fell onto the railway track. It was the second disruption in 13 hours caused by fallen trees due to the inclement weather. On Monday at 6.56 am, three trees fell, and the roof of a nearby house was blown onto the track in the same area. The Thirunelveli–Jamnagar Express narrowly avoided an accident, stopping automatically when the power supply was cut. The roof had become entangled in the overhead electric line and was hanging over the track. The services have been reinstated now after two hours of disruption.
Today, a Red Alert for intense rains is issued in Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur. Thrissur, Malappuram and Kasaragode are on Orange Alert and the rest are on Yellow Alert.
