Kozhikode: Three Sabarimala pilgrims were killed and 12 others were injured in an accident here on Tuesday.

The three were killed after the tempo traveller they were travelling in collided with a tipper lorry at Purakkattiri on the Malaparamba-Vengalam bypass road in the wee hours of Tuesday.

The deceased have been identified as Sivanna, Nagaraja – both from Karnataka – and the driver of the tempo traveller, who was a native of Ernakulam.

The condition of three people among the injured is reportedly critical. The injured have been admitted to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.

Police and locals carried out the rescue operation.
