Dileep tells HC cops harassing 87-year-old mother, seeks to quash FIR on conspiracy case

Dileep told the High Court of Kerala Wednesday that investigating officers conducted raids even in the room of his 87-year-old mother in connection with his case.

The Malayalam actor is accused of ordering a sexual assault on a leading female actor in 2017. He is also accused of conspiring to murder the officers investigating the assault case.

In his submission, Dileep requested the court to quash the FIR filed by the Crime Branch on the conspiracy. He added that the court while granting him bail earlier had said there was no evidence against him prima facie.

Dileep has claimed that the police officers were frequently raiding his residence. He told the court that his family was being harassed by the state police.

The single bench of Justice Ziyad Rahman AA asked the prosecution how mere utterances made by the actor could be deemed as conspiracy.

The prosecution argued that Dileep's threats were not mere utterances but they can be corroborated by the audio recordings and other evidence submitted by director Balachandrakumar.

A former acquaintance of Dileep, Balachandrakumar, is now turned into a key witness in the case.
