The Crime Branch has seized a car owned by actor Dileep, in which Pulsar Suni (NS Sunil) and director Balachandrakumar reportedly travelled a year before the assault on the actor in Kochi.

It is understood that the Crime Branch will tow the red Maruti Suzuki Swift that was used by the accused, including Dileep's brother Anoop, in 2016.

Dileep has owned the vehicle since 2008 and Balachandrakumar had testified that he travelled in the vehicle with Suni.

Dileep, who is accused as the mastermind in the actor assault case from 2017 -- in which a leading Malayalam female actor was assaulted in a car and the incident was allegedly filmed -- had claimed to not know Suni.

Balachandrakumar, a former acquaintance of Dileep, who is now a witness, had testified that the actor and Suni were close.

According to Balachandrakumar, he had left in the car with Anoop and Suni on December 8, 2016 from Dileep's residence at Aluva called Padmasarovaram.

Balachandrakumar had said that they dropped Suni at Paravoor Junction. The actor assault took place on the night of February 17, 2017.

By confiscating the car, the Crime Branch is hoping to validate Balachandrakumar's statement which could be crucial in the case.
