Thiruvananthapuram: Leader of the Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi will visit the state capital on Friday, prompting the city police to enforce coordinated traffic restrictions across key routes in Thiruvananthapuram.

According to the traffic advisory, restrictions will be in place from 11.00 am to 4.00 pm on roads including Kachira Road, East Fort, Government Control Room, KITS, Lulu Mall, Heavens, Bakery Junction, Pettah, Pattom, Kowdiar, NH Bypass, Anwar Shah Junction, Attukal, and several areas connecting Kollam and Varanam. Parking will be strictly prohibited on both sides of these roads during the restricted hours.

The city police have also issued a special traffic diversion plan between 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm:

  • Vehicles heading towards Vellayambalam, Water Works, VVIPs College, Bakery Junction, and RBI must divert via Kadappakada – Kanakakkunnu – PMG.
  • Vehicles travelling to Attukal Junction, General Hospital, Pettah, and Pattom should use the Palayam – PMG – Pattom – Kawdiar – Vellayambalam route.
  • Those bound for Chackai, the airport, and Shanghumugham should take the Kettukadu – Kovalam – Vellayambalam route.

Travellers are advised to plan their journeys in advance and follow police instructions to ensure smooth and safe traffic flow during the high-profile visit.
