Malappuram: A six-year-old girl died after falling onto the road from an autorickshaw at Poongottukulam in Tirur on Thursday night. The vehicle flipped over after it ran into a pothole on the road. The deceased, Faiza, is the daughter of Faisal and Balkees, who live in Puramannur near Valanchery.
Faiza was a Class 1 student at the Puramannur UP school. The accident occurred while the family was returning from visiting a relative who was undergoing treatment at the Tirur District Hospital.
The girl was sitting on her mother’s lap when the autorickshaw fell into the pothole and flipped over, throwing her onto the road. She was first taken to a private hospital in Tirur and later shifted to MIMS Hospital in Kottakkal around 9 pm. Despite all efforts, she was pronounced dead around 11 pm. She is survived by her siblings, Fazil and Anzil.
A 24-year-old man, Abel Chacko had died after being hit by a private bus while trying to avoid a pothole near Ayyanthole in Thrissur on July 19. In another accident, A 32-year-old man, Vishnudath, died after he had swerved his scooter to avoid a pothole and fell under a bus on June 26.
