Aroor: The body of the man, who went missing after a country boat capsized in Vembanad Lake at Murinjapuzha in Chempu, washed ashore in Aroor's Kottappuram Lake on Wednesday morning.
The deceased is 42-year-old Sumesh (Kannan), a native of Panavally, Cherthala. The body will be handed over to his family on Wednesday after the postmortem. He is survived by his wife, Sheeba, and sons Athul Krishna and Amal Krishna.
The boat, with 23 people on board, capsized on Monday. The group was returning after attending a funeral at Kattikunnu in Chempu grama panchayat. The remaining members were rescued.
The accident occurred when they took a privately owned rowing boat to Perumpalam and Panavally. Locals reported that strong winds and overcrowding may have caused the boat to capsize.
