Idukki: A five-year-old girl was found dead inside a parked car at Thankalkadu in Rajakkad on Sunday. The child has been identified as Kalpana Kulu, the daughter of migrant labourers from Assam.
According to police, the girl’s parents, who work as farmhands in the area, had left her inside the vehicle in the morning while they went to work in nearby fields. The vehicle belonged to the contractor who had transported them to the work site. When they returned around noon, they found her unconscious inside the car. She was rushed to a private hospital in Rajakkad but was declared dead on arrival.
Sources said the child had been suffering from fever, and her parents had bought her medication the previous day. There was sufficient ventilation in the vehicle as the windows were rolled down, police said. The body has been sent to Idukki Medical College for post-mortem.
