Erumely: Danger looms over Kisumam Government Higher Secondary School in Pampavalley, as concerns have been raised about the unsafe condition of a low-tension (LT) power line running through the school premises. The line, which supplies electricity to nearby houses, passes directly over the school compound.
Citing the risk of the line snapping after coming into contact with a rubber tree on adjacent private property, school principal Vijesh V Nair has submitted a formal complaint to the Assistant Engineer of KSEB in Erumely. The complaint requests that either the poles be relocated or the overhead cable be rerouted for safety.
Meanwhile, the Assistant Engineer stated that the line has already been secured by cutting any branches or vegetation in contact with it. He also informed that an administrative sanction has been received to convert the LT line into an underground cable. The cable-laying work will commence soon, he added.
