An earlier attempt to build a shelter at this location was abandoned after objections were raised. The stretch from Meethal Bazar to the police station is used for vehicle parking and with an existing bus stand and auto stands extending up to the Circle, it was argued that squeezing a shelter into that space would be impractical.
The new shelter is now being built in front of the entry to the bus stand. It will serve passengers heading to Mangaluru from Kumbala, as well as those travelling to Kanyapadi, Neerchal, Bela, Seethangoli, Naikapp and other destinations.
In line with the Detailed Project Report (DPR), 64 waiting centres were constructed during the road’s restoration. Following local demands, 11 more were added. The road restoration was completed in 2023 and interlock tile laying is currently in progress in the bus stand area.
