Kothamangalam police probing the suicide of 23-year-old have taken her boyfriend Rameez Mohammad, 24, into custody. Police said that he is being questioned and no charges have been slapped against him. She was found hanging in the bedroom of her residence on Saturday. She was rushed to a hospital in Kothamangalam where she was declared dead at 2.43 pm, according to the FIR.
The police have registered a case of unnatural death. A suicide note, kept on the bed, was recovered from the room in which she raised allegations of harassment and forced religious conversion against Rameez. The funeral was held on Sunday after autopsy at Government Medical College, Kalamassery. Her father died three months ago.
Her mother is a housemaid, and her brother is employed as a driver. She was a second-year TTC student. She was in a relationship with Rameez, a resident of Aluva, according to her family. Talks of marriage were going on, they said. The police have seized her phone and are analysing chat history and other digital evidence.
"Rameez was held from Aluva. He is being questioned, no case has been registered as of now," a police official said. The police said that Rameez is a daily wage worker and recently he took up a temporary job at the airport.
