Kottayam: For the people of Nedungadappally, the Phausia bus that ran the Changanassery–Mallappally–Vaypur route for seven decades was a part of their lives. So they honoured it with a reception.
The bus service began in 1957 and has been running without interruption, except during the pandemic. Helpful crew and reliable service made Phausia a local favourite.
The bus driver Girishkumar and conductor Salim, both natives of Vaypur, were felicitated by local trader Vijayan and veteran driver George, respectively. Sweets were distributed to passengers as part of the celebration.
Sheela Prasad, member of the Karukachal panchayat, and Gireesh Kumar, member of the Kunnamthanam panchayat, along with civic society council members Manoj, Jobi, Jose, Eeppachan Mayil, Prince, Prasad Kuttapuzha, Aneesh Thomas, Deepu, Jinu, Abraham Chacko, Mathew Abraham, Biju, Prasad Akkarapparambil, Prasad Puthukkulam, Lijo, Vinod and autorickshaw drivers from Nedungadappally also took part in the event.
