Kaduthuruthy: Minister V N Vasavan inaugurated the Dr Vandana Das Memorial Hospital at Madhuraveli, built by the late Dr Vandana’s parents to honour her memory. At the event, the minister extended his wholehearted support to the hospital.
K G Mohandas and T Vasanthakumari, parents of Dr Vandana Das—who was stabbed to death while on duty at the taluk hospital in Kottarakkara—opened the hospital in their daughter’s memory. This comes in addition to the Dr Vandana Das Memorial Clinic, which had earlier been established at Vasanthakumari’s native place in Trikunnapuzha, Alappuzha. Mons Joseph MLA presided over the function.
Mohandas and Vasanthakumari said the hospital has been set up to provide quality treatment at affordable rates. The pharmacy was inaugurated by District Medical Officer Dr N Priya, while the laboratory was inaugurated by IMA district chairman Dr R P Ranjin.
Panchayat president N B Smitha, Rubber Board member N Hari, former block panchayat president P V Sunil, panchayat members Sukumari Aisha, C N Manoharan, Sunu George, P G Thankamma, Firosh Mavunkal, P G Shajimon, and Dr Vandana Das Memorial Charitable Trust member Biji Vinod also spoke at the event.
