Kottayam: An Independence Day reel created by students of Mar Baselios Public School, Kottayam, has taken Instagram by storm, crossing 27.8 million views and 1.1 million likes within just three days.

The viral video shows a giant map of India formed by 220 students, a creative display designed by the school’s Physical Education Department and the Media Committee led by Saumya Nair and Abhijith P V. Shot on an iPhone from the school’s third floor, the reel captured the attention of audiences across the country.

“The participating students were from Classes 3, 4, 5, and 6. The entire plan and trial run took just four days. We wanted to do something unique for Independence Day, and this idea came up. We never expected such a massive response. Fridays are activity days, so we asked students to wear green, white, and red—green and red are already house uniforms, and the rest wore white tops,” said Saumya.

The school’s Principal, Nini Abraham, added, “The reel not only crossed millions of views but also brought 8,000 new followers to our Instagram page.”

As part of the celebrations, students also staged a “Personality Pageant” dressed as freedom fighters, a pyramid formation, a state-themed fashion show, patriotic dances, and group singing of national songs.
