Munnar: Continuous downpour has triggered yet another landslide near the RO Junction in Munnar, in the stretch where roadside shops line the slope.
Soil and debris slid down the steep incline, damaging shops below. A similar incident had occurred at the same spot a few days ago, when several shops collapsed. After that, authorities had directed traders to keep the outlets closed. Since they remained shut, no major casualties were reported this time.
Though property damage was reported, traffic movement on the route was not disrupted. The spot, often used as a parking area for tourist vehicles, remains high-risk. Officials warned of more landslides as heavy rain continues, with several trees on the slope said to be in precarious condition.
