Young man, woman found dead inside house in Idukki

Idukki: A young man and woman were found dead inside a house at Udumbannoor here on Friday. The man was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan, while the woman was found dead in another room.

The deceased have been identified as Shivaghosh (19) of Manayankal House in Parakavala, Udumbannoor, and Meenakshi (20) of Inchappalaykal House, Parathodu, Adimali. Their bodies were found around noon at the rented house in Parakavala, where Shivaghosh’s family has been living.

According to reports, Shivaghosh's relative, Adarsh, tried calling him several times but received no response. When he reached the house to check,  he found Shivaghosh hanging in his room. With the help of neighbours, he rushed him to a hospital in Muthalakodam, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. Later, while others searched the house, Meenakshi was found lifeless in another room.

Shivaghosh, a native of Vellathooval, had moved to Parakavala a few years ago with his mother and sister. They were not at the house when the incident happened. 

Police said there were injury marks around Meenakshi's neck, indicating possible strangulation, and signs of resistance were also observed. A forensic team inspected the scene, and officials said that the exact cause of death would be confirmed only after the postmortem examination.

Karimannoor Police have launched an investigation, adding that the circumstances surrounding Meenakshi’s death will be clarified only after further inquiry.

Shivaghosh's parents are Shaji and Jayamol. Meenakshi’s father, Shaiju, had passed away earlier; her mother is Shiji.
