Kunnamkulam: Around 15 passengers were injured when a private bus and a KSRTC low-floor bus collided head-on at Kechery near the Thuvanoor bridge around 11 am on Saturday.
The injured were admitted to a nearby private hospital, and it is learnt that none of them is in critical condition.
The KSRTC bus, which was heading to Kozhikode from Thrissur, rammed into the private bus, Vinod, that was travelling in the opposite direction from Kozhikode to Thrissur. Both vehicles were badly damaged in the crash.
While the police and Fire Force personnel managed to clear the private bus from the road, the KSRTC bus remained stuck, causing a complete traffic block along the Thrissur–Kozhikode stretch of the State Highway.
A police team led by Kunnamkulam Sub-Inspector Vaishakh reached the spot and initiated further action.
This is the second bus accident reported on State Highway 69 within two days. On Friday, a private bus overturned after losing control and hitting a tree and a car. Around 18 people were injured in this accident
