Crime Branch district office construction is stalled four years after its launch, leaving the project incomplete.

Muttom: Four years after its launch, the construction of the Crime Branch district office remains incomplete here in Idukki. The project, located near the KSEB substation along the Moolamattam route, is being handled by the Kerala Police Housing Cooperative Society.

The original plan aimed to complete the office within a year. Funds totalling ₹1.73 crores were allocated for the first phase of construction, which was proposed in two phases. However, work came to a halt after funds were blocked. About 1.50 acres under the MVIP were acquired for the office, with plans to build a two-storied structure at a total investment of ₹2.25 crores.

Currently, the site is overgrown with bushes. Meanwhile, the Crime Branch continues to operate from a rented building in Thodupuzha, which offers limited facilities. The office has a total strength of 55 officials, including a district chief, two DySPs, and three circle inspectors. Officials remain hopeful of relocating to the new premises once construction is completed.
