Kottayam: A python travelled 64 km in a container lorry from Ernakulam to Kottayam, creating panic on the Medical College campus. Workers found the 10-foot snake inside the container that had brought construction materials for the Medical College multi-speciality block around 12.15 pm on Saturday.
Spotting the reptile, the site engineer quickly informed the Forest Department. District facilitator K A Abish and beat forest officer G Akhil reached the spot, caught the python and took it to the Forest Department office for a health check.
Officials said the python was healthy and would be released in a safe place. They suspect the snake had entered the container while goods were being loaded in Ernakulam.
