Mushroom farming has transformed Malappuram's Parappanangadi agricultural block through the 'Mushroom Revolution' project.

Tenhipalam: P Abdul Hameed MLA inaugurated the Mushroom Fest held at the Calicut University Auditorium. The festival was organized to mark the full implementation of the 'Mushroom Revolution' project within the Parappanangadi agricultural Block, which encompasses the municipalities of Tirurangadi and Parappanangadi, as well as the panchayats of Nannambra, Vallikunnu, Mooneeyoor, Peruvalloor, and Tenhipalam.

A mushroom dish cooking competition was also organized alongside the event. Twenty-two participants prepared various mushroom dishes such as Biryani, tea, payasam, chatti pathiri, and cutlets, utilizing mushrooms.

Under the 'Mushroom Village' project within the agricultural Block, there are at least 100 small-scale mushroom production units. Additionally, there are 2 large-scale units, 3 mushroom processing units, and 2 packing units.

Ten compost units and one small-scale seed production center are also operational. A mushroom exhibition and a quiz competition were also held as part of the Mushroom Fest. The events commenced with a publicity rally. More varieties of mushrooms are currently available in the agricultural Block.
